It takes a couple extra steps but it will work fine once you get it setup.
So that would probably be a better choice if you have one laying around.
I have also used a cheap harmony to do the same thing before. I used one of the old school programmable All in One's to set up the fire TV controls on my system, then I copy them over to the URC and create my macros from it. The only way I could stop it was by programming the flirc with a different remote, then transferring the setup over to the URC remote.
